A Flash of Theatre!

When I asked to film interesting things around us for the weekend, I knew exactly what I'd be filming. I was in the theatre for the the entire time so I filmed shots of what was occurring around me. I wanted to keep people out of the video visually so I mostly just filmed still objects or myself moving from place to place. The hardest part of creating this piece was the sound. I knew that I wanted rapid cuts of different shots to show the quick pace of everything that was happening in the theatre but I wasn't sure how to approach the sound. I ended up filming bits of the show and using just the sound of those to contrast the between the non-living visual and the living audio.

I wanted to present the rapid pace of the theatre and preparing for a show. I am always running around like a crazy person before a rehearsal or performance and I wanted to create that feeling of doing as many things at once as possible and hearing multiple things that you have to deal with and try to understand what's going on.

I am pleased with how the visual part turned out but I see some things that I would change about it now, including adding more clips as well as perhaps adding the show clips with the sounds so that I can show not only the prep for a show but the show itself.
